While admittedly deficient in other areas, I’ve always possessed a rich imagination. I apply that attribute to writing, for a creative effect.

Before entering the profession of scribbly gigs, though, my lousy sense of direction led me down a different path. False starts in sociology and dental hygiene eventually rerouted me toward a graduate degree in public health from Boston University. I then joined the Commissioned Corps of the U.S. Public Health Service.

During my career as a Health Services Officer, I conducted public health campaigns and national recruitment drives. These projects included additional training, and afforded me extensive experience in the preparation of quality marketing materials. I created direct mail, flyers, posters, press kits, speeches and articles. In addition, I wrote and edited regional and national newsletters for nearly 15 years.

These writing projects were exhilarating. In fact, creating exceptional copy became my passion. Upon retiring from the USPHS in 2000, I launched my freelance copywriting business. Finally, my enthusiasm for writing copy had transformed into a full-time endeavor.
